Speaking Topics
“Waste and Consumption: Practical Strategies for Reducing Waste and Making Less Trash “
Waste is never good, but especially now–in a world that is increasingly stressed by over population, industrial activities and modern lifestyles–we need to be very careful about habits that produce too much waste. Everyday, common practices have an enormous impact for at least one big reason—there are 309 million Americans now, and it’s just math: In one day, Americans throw away 70 million plastic water bottles, use the equivalent of 3 million trees in paper and consume 423 billion gallons of water so they can have a quarter pound of beef for lunch instead of a salad. Crissy’s presentation highlights three key areas of our lives that produce staggering waste, and shares practical solutions and creative products that will make dramatically reducing waste easier. (one hour)
“Energy, Water and Money: How Saving Natural Resources Saves Cash”
How we use energy and water, two vitally important resources, have become critically important in the face of climate change and increasing water shortages. And while the public is increasingly aware of this fact, change is occurring too slowly. Through this presentation, Crissy clearly explains why we need to rethink how we use energy and water, and also provides tools and incentives that will inspire action, including information on efficient products, examples of wise use and details of the costs and savings associated with each. (one hour)
“Reducing Waste At School”
This half hour presentation is geared to elementary school-age kids and gives them a perspective of how much Americans consume, the impacts from our over consumption and gives them actionable ideas for reducing waste from lunches and reducing paper use overall. (30 minutes)
